The Dream About Visiting Newfoundland

Date: 2026-08-01
Time: 10:52 am

I just woke up from a dream that I partially remember.

I was visiting Newfoundland. I cannot remember why I was there exactly. At the start of the dream, I was walking through a rural part of Newfoundland, and I was looking at a map while I walked. I passed by a small town that for some reason was called "Fries" on the map. While I was walking through a wooded area next to the town, I encountered some young people, who were friendly. When I talked to them, they told me that they wanted to help immigrants.

After I returned from my walk, I hung out with my family at a hotel. I was sharing a room with [redacted], and our cousins were also often hanging out with us in our room. At one point, I somehow prepared a meal in our room, which I think was actually pieces of breaded chicken. I am not sure how I prepared this in our hotel room. Some time after this, someone asked me if I wanted to go to church that day. I said yes, just to be nice, and because I was visiting Newfoundland and people probably wanted me to go. I then left the room and did some other things.

After a while, I came back to the room and noticed that [redacted] and my cousins had made a big mess, and had moved my stuff around. My stuff was now on the floor, and the food that I had made had gotten dirty so it was no longer edible. I was very frustrated about this. Also, for some reason, while I was in the hotel room, I could see that someone who worked in the hotel was helping [redacted] and my cousins manually create Coca-Cola to drink, and for some reason it involved leaving containers of water to settle for a long time before using the water, which they had left in various places in the hotel room. I found this strange at first, though after I thought about it I realized that I kind of wanted some Coca-Cola. After observing this for a while I left the hotel room.

In addition to this, either before or after coming back to the hotel room, I am not quite sure which, I changed my mind about going to church. I realized that [redacted] and my cousins were not going, and I realized that people appeared to have thought that I had agreed to go to church because I was religious, which was not true. I wanted it to be clear that I was not religious. After I left the room, and some time passed, I ended up somewhere else where I was explaining to my parents and a few other people why I was not going to go to church. While I was explaining this, I started to get really angry at a male stranger about the fact that I had been trapped in my apartment in Toronto for a long time. I got angry at them as if they were one of my parents, and I am not sure why I did that given that they were a stranger. I started to think about things a bit more, and it started to occur to me that I could not actually remember how I had ended up leaving my apartment in Toronto in order to visit Newfoundland. This started to make me feel very concerned.

I kept trying to remember how I had left my apartment in Toronto. I suddenly found myself riding on a bus, and I do not remember how I got there. I asked someone who was with me if they knew how I had left my apartment, who appeared to somehow simultaneously be [redacted] and my cousin [redacted] at the same time, though I felt like it was mostly [redacted]. He claimed not to know, though eventually he started to hint that a company had brought me to Newfoundland, and it started to seem possible that maybe my family had hired a company to force me to leave my apartment. I found this very alarming.

I started trying to access my website on my phone in order to see if I had written some kind of explanation on my website, however I was not able to access the Internet. I realized that I had to go back to the hotel in order to access the Internet, which was where the bus was going anyway, so I thought about it a bit more while I was on the bus. I felt increasingly anxious about the fact that I could not remember how I had left my apartment in Toronto, and I became worried about my property in the apartment. I also started to think that maybe it was possible that I did have a mental illness because of the fact that I could not remember how I had left the apartment. I started to think about the fact that I did not have a girlfriend, and how it seemed likely that it would now become even more difficult to find a girlfriend, because it seemed like women would not want to date someone with a mental illness. I felt sad about this. I thought about the female patient that I had met at CAMH when I was there who gave me her phone number, and I started to want to contact her, because it seemed like she might be the only person I knew who might have sympathy for me and might want to be my girlfriend even though I had a mental illness.

A short while after this, I woke up. I suddenly realized that the reason that I could not remember how I had left the apartment was because I was actually still in the apartment and had been having a dream. I was relieved, and I verbally said "Oh, it was just a dream".

Interpretation

I found this dream particularly interesting because of the fact that at one point during the dream I started to become anxious about the fact that I could not remember how I had left my apartment in Toronto. Even though I was having a dream in which a lot of other strange and unusual things had happened that seem like they should have caused me to suspect that I was having a dream, I did not realize that I was having a dream. However, despite the fact that I was not able to realize that I was having a dream, I was able to realize that I had no memory of leaving my apartment in Toronto, which actually makes sense because that memory does not exist due to the fact that I was having the dream while still physically inside that apartment. When I woke up and realized that I was having a dream and was still in my apartment, and that this was the explanation for why I could not remember leaving the apartment, I was relieved. This meant that I was back to feeling sane and no longer had any reason to believe that I had a mental illness.

If you have read the page on my website about being trapped in my apartment, a lot of the dream probably makes sense without very much explanation. My family mostly lives in Newfoundland, and I have been frustrated with them for filling out forms to have me forcibly brought to a psychiatric facility, and so it makes sense that I would express this frustration in the dream.

The reference to immigration at the beginning of the dream was interesting. I have never really had much discussion with people I know in Newfoundland about immigration, so I do not really know what their opinions actually are. However, Newfoundland has had a problem for a long time with young people moving away, and I have a feeling that if I was a young person living in rural Newfoundland that I would want people to immigrate to the province. It would mean having more options when trying to meet people to date.

At the end of the dream, I mentioned the female patient who gave me her phone number while I was at CAMH. This is something that I also described on the page about being trapped in my apartment, in the section about the third visit to a psychiatric facility. I have thought about this person a few times because I very much like that she gave me her phone number as soon as she saw me, while apparently not knowing anything else about me besides my appearance. We only had a short conversation while I was at CAMH, so I do not really know very much about her personality or her interests or whether we would actually be a good match as a couple. I would be willing to be friends though, and to see if we would get along.

As for the reference to Coca-Cola, I actually have in my waking life recently been thinking about the fact that I have not had any carbonated drinks in a long time. I used to drink Coke Zero fairly often while I worked. Maybe it was the fact that I had been thinking about it recently that caused me to dream about it. The other thing that might be related is the fact that in my waking life I actually had an accident a number of years ago in which I fell down some stairs at a restaurant and landed on my face, which caused me to have a deviated septum. Ever since then, I have found it difficult to sleep with my mouth closed because I find it difficult to inhale enough air through my nose in order to sleep comfortably. This causes my mouth to become dry while I sleep. I had another dream a while ago in which my mouth was very dry in the dream, and so I suspect that this is something that I sometimes notice in my dreams.

Personally, I find the deviated septum frustrating, however it is one of the things that I hope to eventually fix as a consequence of improved technology in the future after the AI singularity happens, which should improve many technologies very quickly. I am planning to try to fix my deviated septum myself using some combination of AI, robotics, and the technology that allows humanity to create perfect lab grown meat. I have also been specifically thinking about trying to create lab grown meat recently. Maybe this is one of the reasons why in my dream I made some breaded chicken in the hotel room.
